Boudoir album – Grand Rapids MichiganJuly 9, 2013

The Little Black Book boudoir album

This is a stunning 4×6 leather bound 24-page boudoir album that a recent client ordered. I refer to this album as the “Little Black Book” as it is small enough for carrying; if you happen to be away from your partner, you’ve got something easy that you can carry with you. It also makes for easy hiding because it is small and discreet. A boudoir album you may or may not want to have sitting out on your coffee table (depending on your personality and how risque you are with guests in your own home), so it is also small enough that it can be hidden away in a bedside table.

Today, everything is digital. Everything is on a computer. I find that it is nice to have a nice physical book. It makes a wonderful gift for a partner. It makes a wonderful gift to yourself even! It can be a nice reminder that you are wonderful and beautiful and gorgeous!

I also offer the option of purchasing 8×10 Bedside Albums and Pin-Up Calendars. I do also offer the option of purchasing digital copies on a flash drive of the images found inside the albums.

I recently was asked about how I choose the images that get posted to the blog. I wanted to take a moment to address that. I will never ever post an image to this blog that you do not want shown. Your privacy is extremely important to me. I value you and the respect and trust you have given me by allowing me to shoot your boudoir session. Of the images that I am given a release to post, I choose my favorites and the ones that show off all the best of my clients.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. You can leave a comment here or contact me over email. I do moderate comments here, so you don’t have to worry.

The age of brass & steel…July 10, 2012

The World Steam Expo happened over Memorial Day weekend. If you attended, you know exactly how amazing it was! If you did not have the opportunity to attend, it was brilliant and definitely worth attending in the future if you are interested in Steampunk. I highly recommend getting a 4-day pass (if you can) and enjoying a wonderful weekend.

During the Expo, Miss S did some “Steamy Boudoir” modeling. Both the kilt and the corset she is wearing were made by vendors at the Expo. We had a lot of fun setting up and shooting in the Hyatt Regency. There was a lot of laughter and a lot of fun. The light in the room was magnificent and got better throughout the day.

I would love to work with Miss S again! She is so beautiful and the day was ridiculously fun!

Corset: Ties That Bynde Designs, Inc.
Kilt: Shoptroll

Miss K’s Boudoir Session!May 6, 2012

Another of the Palmer House Hilton boudoir sessions. I had the honor of meeting and shooting the absolutely stunning Miss K! Every pose was perfect; she does not have a bad angle. Every pose held a new character and a new look. We had a lot of fun and there was a lot of laughter. It was kind of a dream come true to be blessed to shoot pictures of Miss K. I am so honored that she chose me to shoot a boudoir session.

Miss K is a professional make-up artist in Chicago. She did her make-up, my hair stylist helped with the hair and the styling. If you are looking for a make-up artist in Chicago and you’re looking to “enhance your natural beauty,” Miss K would be a wonderful person to speak with! I highly recommend her. Thank you again to Miss K, I had so much fun doing this session.

And two bonus images… I normally would file these next two under outtakes, but I loved how the light hit Miss K so much! Very vintage!

B’s mini-headshot session!April 15, 2012

While at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, IL, I also completed a mini-headshot session! B is the owner of WickedDjinn Designs. She is a professional costumer, seamstress, hair and make-up artist. If you’re in the Midwest and looking for custom creations, let me know and I can send you her way.

I was very pleased with how her mini-headshots turned out. Absolutely stunning!

I also think the images below answer the question of glasses: to wear or not to wear. If you wear glasses on a regular basis and you don’t feel like yourself without them, wear the glasses in your photo sessions! Some people may tell you that it’s not stylish or the photos won’t turn out properly. I say BAH-HUMBUG! to them. If it’s something that’s a part of you, it should be there. If you don’t want to wear your glasses in your photos, that’s your decision and no one else’s. Personally, I’m an advocate for wearing glasses in your session. I wear both glasses and contacts myself, some days I wear my glasses, most days I wear my contacts. Whichever you choose to wear, the choice should be whatever is most comfortable for you. Okay, I’ll get off my soapbox now and let you enjoy the images.

Miss M’s boudoir sessionApril 14, 2012

Over Easter weekend, I had the honor of shooting some beautiful women! They all inspired me and I am so privileged that they choose me for their boudoir sessions.

Miss M told me about how she had booked a Boudoir Session with another photographer, but was disappointed with the results. It breaks my heart to hear women tell me about disappointing boudoir sessions. You should be able to get what you want and in the style that you want it! This is something you’ll cherish, if you’re not getting what you want, you’re missing out.

It was very fun to shoot Miss M. She came with some very interesting ideas and was open to trying a few new poses.

Inspiration: Vintage Pin-Up!April 9, 2012

Today’s inspiration is a series of Vintage Pin-Ups!

First, a quote from Audrey Hepburn:

“There is more to sex appeal than just measurements. I don’t need a bedroom to prove my womanliness. I can convey just as much sex appeal, picking apples off a tree or standing in the rain.”

One of the most iconic pin-up artists was Gil Elvgren. If you think of a Pin-Up, you’re probably thinking of his work. I obviously can’t take credit for the following images in this blog post as they are his, I am inspired daily by these images though. Here are four of my favorite images!

The first two are: Photographer and Knitter

I love how playful these are! The photographer who is not shy and giving the camera a little hint of sexiness. The knitter is showing off a current work-in-progress (WIP) and you get that little hint of sexy. I love being subtle with sexiness. You don’t have to get out a measuring tape and measure your chest-waist-hips to show that you’ve got sexiness; you can show it doing the most ordinary of activities.
Next, we have: a woman out on the town, and a woman with flowers.

These pin-ups have that innocent and sweet, but knowing look. I love how beautiful they are. These are the sort of things that inspire me as a photographer.

Next up, a few images from this past weekend’s boudoir sessions! I had the honor of shooting pictures of some very beautiful women that inspired me!
